The obverse of Canada's 1941 50¢ coin features a photograph of King George VI. The portrait is a portrait of the left side of the national dynasty with the words "GEORGIVS VI D G G REX ET IND IMP" around the edge, representing "George VI, by the grace of God, King and Emperor of India."
On the reverse of the coin is a large Canadian coat of arms, consisting of a shield divided into five sections representing the different regions of Canada. The shield is supported by a lion and a unicorn, and the banner below the shield reads "CANADA" in large letters. The coin's denomination, "50 cents," is also inscribed on the reverse.
